Shortly before the scheduled release, ​SM Entertainment​ announced, in a surprising move, that ​Red Velvet​'s 2nd mini-album, ​The Velvet​, would be pushed back one day.

The official ​SMTOWN​ Twitter account tweeted, "[Notice]We are sorry to announce that the release date of Red Velvet's new album and the MV has been delayed to Mar 17 for a better quality.​" Of course, this inevitably left fans sad and disappointed that they would not be able to hear Red Velvet's new songs, but don't worry - it's still less than a day away.
