On 20 August, Big Bang celebrated their 10th anniversary with much grandeur and literally, with a big bang! The highly-anticipated anniversary concert titled 'BIGBANG10 The Concert: 0.TO.10' was held at Seoul Sangam World Cup Stadium and attracted over 65,000 attendees, including international VIP (fans).
The 5-member group made their debut on 19 August 2006 and have since shot to global fame. They dominated the local music industry in South Korea and went on to top international music charts as well. Recently, the quintet was ranked second in Times magazine's 2016 poll on the "Most Influential People In The World" and listed alongside political figures like Bernie Sanders and Barack Obama.
The concert reminisced down memory lane and saw not just group performances but unit and solo stages as well. PSY made a special appearance and performed his global hit 'Gangnam Style', adding on to the already hyped atmosphere.
Leader G-Dragon expressed his worry that Big Bang's popularity in Korea might have dropped since they had so many overseas schedules. "But looking at the crowd today, (it seems that) we're still popular," he commented wittily. Daesung thanked the audience for turning up, "I missed it so much. I love the enthusiasm and passion of Korean fans." Taeyang hopes that fans "will stay with us for the next decade too".
As expected of a Big Bang concert, big names have always been on the attendee list and this time was no different. YG labelmates including Epik High's DJ Tukutz, 2NE1's Sandara Park, Jinusean, WINNER, iKON, Akdong Musician's Suhyun and actress Kim Hee Jung turned up to show their support. Many other top celebrities were spotted as well - S.E.S's Eugene and family, Sistar's Dasom, Tara's Hyomin, Flowsik, models Lee Soo Hyuk, Soo Joo and Ahn Ahreum.
The concert wrapped up by hitting right at the nostalgia spot with an encore stage of Big Bang's popular hits 'Last Farewell', 'Sunset Glow', 'Lies' and 'Always'. It was certainly a night to remember for both Big Bang and VIPs.
In September, Big Bang will be having fan-meetings in Macau following which, in October they will head to Hawaii for their very first fan meet event. The group also has plans to bring their MADE [V.I.P] Tour all around Asia with a confirmed stop in Bangkok, Thailand.
