Shall We Have Dinner Tonight is a webtoon by See-In Park, that is currently available on Spottoon and it’s definitely worth a read if you’re a fan of romance and food! For those who aren’t familiar with webtoons, this is a great place to start because it’s a grounded story with characters that you can all relate to and images of food that you can drool over.

  The plot centers on a young woman named Doe-Hee and a young man named Hae-Kyung who meet by chance. Both are reeling from broken relationships and suddenly find themselves with no one to eat with. One night, they both decide to dine alone at a restaurant and as they wait to be seated separately, they are mistaken as a couple by the hostess.

Though they are initially taken by surprise, they decide to eat dinner together and an unconventional friendship begins to bloom. Every week they meet up to eat delicious meals together. They keep each other company and begin to learn about each other. Though essentially strangers, they are able to tell each other about their past and the relationships that have left them a little jaded and broken. As their relationship deepens, what they really mean to each other becomes harder to define.

This webtoon is a very thoughtful look at relationships and how they can shape a person’s life 

and identity. It about appreciating the past but also about how to let the past go in order to move forward in life. It draws the reader in by conveying all of the struggles and loss that Doe-Hee and Hae-Kyung experience and the emotions that come with them. The flow of the story and the artwork itself is another strong point because the theme of food and how important it can be in bringing people closer together is clearly illustrated. After reading an episode, you might be left feeling a little hungry too.
